Innovative Curriculum Research
My final year research project surrounds a Unit of Learning (UoL) which includes innovative approaches to teaching, and is surrounding the cost of living and the housing crisis in Ireland.

For this project, there is a proposed visit to the Limerick Docklands. The Limerick Docklands is a very rich site to explore, as it goes hand in hand with the similar real-life redevelopments in Ireland such as the Waterford city North Quay. While the rich historical background of this site also makes it a unique site to investigate.

While additionally there would be partnerships with an economics teacher to explore the cost-of-living and the housing crisis further. They would be able to give in depth insights into such topics, which otherwise an art teacher may not be able to provide. Such a partnership would be unique, as it would also create a cross circular environment wherein students would start to understand the relationship between real life social issues and art. Namely, exploring mapmaking (the hypothetical re-development of the Limerick docklands) to highlight pressing social issues that are relevant in Ireland today.
